Bisnis.com, JAKARTA - A household electronic appliance manufacturer, PT Midea Planet Indonesia, provided assistance in the form of 50 units of Smart Oxygen Concentrator to the government through the Ministry of Industry.The handover of assistance was carried out by the President Director of PT Midea Planet Indonesia, Dennis Jiang, to the Director of the Electronics and Telematics Industry at the Ministry of Industry, Ali Murtopo Simbolon, at the Ministry of Industry office, on Wednesday, September 29, 2021.President Director of PT Midea Planet Indonesia Dennis Jiang expressed his concern over the condition of the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia which has been going on since March 2020. As a well-known electronics company, Midea continues to strive to play an active role in overcoming the pandemic in the country."As a company that grows and becomes part of the Indonesian family, it is our commitment to be able to contribute to joint efforts in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic," said Dennis, Wednesday (29/9/2021).Regarding the delivery of assistance through the Ministry of Industry, Dennis stated, it is part of good synergy and coordination between companies and representatives of the Indonesian government."We are under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry.With good coordination with the government, we hope that this oxygen donation can be distributed to places that really need it, "Dennis said.Based on a report from the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), the need for oxygen at the peak of Covid-19 cases reached 2,725 tons per day.This number is much higher than the average requirement before the peak of cases, which was only around 400 tons.The demand for oxygen at the peak of the case also exceeds the production requirement which only reaches 1,700 tons per day.Meanwhile, until the end of August 2021, the average need for oxygen per day is 923 tons.With limited production capacity, the Ministry of Health has prepared oxygen concentrators in several hospitals with a total of 11,000 concentrators throughout Indonesia to improve distribution.Meanwhile, the Director of the Electronics and Telematics Industry at the Ministry of Industry, Ali Murtopo Simbolon, said the government was also struggling together with industry in the supply and distribution of oxygen for medical purposes.This is in accordance with the Instruction of the Minister of Industry Number 1/2021 concerning Oxygen Products as an Industrial Strategy Commodity during the Covid-19 Pandemic Period.Check out other news about the topic of this article, here:Join and get analysis of economic and business information via your email.
