Kaduthuruthy: Nothing could deter PP Simimol (50), a native of Vaikaprayar from writing the plus two equivalency exam. She suffers from shrinking lung syndrome and had been admitted in the Intensive Care Unit. However, she reached Kaduthuruthy St. Michael’s High School with an oxygen concentrator and cylinder to write the exam. She was accompanied by her mother Sarojini and sister Siji. She had been admitted at a private hospital in Thellakom until a few days ago.

Simimol couldn’t continue her studies after getting married. Her husband Jyotiraj who worked at the Indian Air Force died two years ago. Simimol joined the study centre managed by Vaikom Block Panchayath for the equivalency classes after her daughter Amrita Jyoti went to Mangalore to study BDS.

Simimol wrote the English exam after getting the nod from her doctors. She has to write six exams to pass the plus two equivalency course. Meanwhile, the school authorities arranged special seating arrangements in the staff room for Simimol. She said that she would continue her studies if her health condition improves.
